The Role of Women
In WWI, women played a huge role in keeping soldiers equipped with ammo, as well as manning the transport system. The war also helped women gain some political rights that they did not have previous to the war.
Women founds jobs in originally "men only" fields such as transport, factories making ammunition, the Women's Royal Air Force, on farms in the Women's Land Army, and in shipyards, just to name a few.
Women also stayed doing old jobs they did before the war. They knitted socks, prepared hampers for the soldiers on the front, and contributed in nurse work out on the battle field at times as well. Some women in the former Soviet Union even became soldiers and fought on the battle field themselves.
