New Weapons of Destruction
M1917 Browning machine gun
This particular gun is recoil operated, belt fed, and air cooled. The recoil force is the force that propels the gun. The gun features two sights, one in the front and one in the rear.
British Mark V tank
The tank was powered by a new Ricardo engine that had been specifically designed for this tank. It had a new transmission and better gears, increasing its speed to almost 5 mph. To avoid it getting stuck in the trenches, "stepping stones" called cribs were carried and placed over the trench when needed.
Krupp 7.7 cm FK 16
This gun was a descendant of the earlier 7.7 cm FK 96. It was improved by adding a recoil system, a new breech, and a new carriage. It had an increased range due to the increased barrel length, which improved its use in trench warfare. The rifling in the barrel was also altered, increasing the range even further. This gun made it possible for a split charge to be used, decreasing the need for propellant and the wear on the barrel. Another change was the sighting gear.
