Stalemate on the War Field
Trenches and barbed wire, though they proved to be successful in keeping a hold on the ground each side already held ownership of, also proved to be a limiting factor of the progressing of World War One. Neither side could get past the barbed wire that established the boundaries of either side, and soldiers camped out in trenches made it impossible to try to advance onto enemy lines.
