Japanese Involvement
Japan entered the war by declaring war on Germany through her alliance with Great Britain. Through this entrance into World War One, Japan was looking to expand its sphere of influence in China and gain recognition as a great power.
The Battle at Gallipoli was a landing on the Gallipoli Peninsula that happened in an attempt to secure the shores and silence Turkish guns. The Turks dug trenches on high ground, teeming down on the Australian, New Zealand, Irish, French, and British troops below. This caused a resemblance of the Western Front, with both sides hiding in trenches, both afraid to make a move that would mean a suicidal attempt on their part. This stalemate ended when the British withdrew their troops at the end of the year.
